The University of Buckingham has chosen local employability education charity Worktree as the beneficiary for the SME (Small Medium Enterprise) MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards 2019.

The awards celebrate the achievements of businesses in the local area and Worktree will be sponsored for the next two years.

This will deliver a substantial benefit to Worktree, which does not receive any government funding and relies solely on sales of services, donations and sponsorship from local businesses.

25 staff and students from University of Buckingham have already signed up for Worktree’s army of Career WorkOut volunteers, which now numbers nearly 1,500.

Jason Sinclair, Director of Executive Development and Student Employability at the University of Buckingham (pictured), said: “Every child, regardless of background or location deserves to have access to good quality information on future study options and also on the local labour market. There needs to be opportunities for guidance, especially when significant study or career choices are being made.

“Worktree is a wonderful programme, facilitating all of the above in our schools, and encourages involvement from the whole local community. This helps inform our children’s choices as they develop through school to young adults.  It also helps to reduce the stress that uncertainty can bring to our youths, and help with their welfare longer term. This for us, makes it a charity worthy of all our support.”

Closing date for entry to the 2019 awards is Thursday 15th November 2018 at 5pm.
